The California Cheese & Butter Association is a trade organization for any person, company or organization engaged in the manufacture, sale, promotion or distribution of cheese or butter in the State of California.

Industry Involvement

The CCBA provides a forum for industry involvement at many levels. Recent activities included an association booth at the L.A. County Fair. Members were given the opportunity to sample products to over 1,000,000 fair attendees. The Association supports the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” as a way to not only be involved in a wonderful cause that touches many of us, but also allows us to promote cheese and butter to the diet of thousands of runners and walkers. The highlight of each year for the CCBA is the annual convention which provides networking opportunities with leaders from all aspects of the industry in a setting that is both educational and social. The CCBA also publishes a quarterly newsletter that keeps members updated on the lastest industry news. Membership brings these benefits as well as others to you and your company.

Annual Convention

The California Cheese & Butter Association holds an annual spring convention, at which members review the current status and future prospects of their industry. Convention speakers address dairy industry developments and provide a forum for supporting and strengthening the industry nationwide. Topics also include educating consumers about the nutritional values, culinary uses, and eating pleasures of cheese and butter. The conventions, held in destination resort settings, also include social and recreational events and opportunities for members and their spouses to meet industry colleagues at a personal level.

History

Founded in the early part of the 20th century, the history of the California Cheese & Butter Association parallels the evolution of quality dairy products in California.

Today’s California Cheese & Butter Association, representing over 60 companies from all over the United States and abroad, has expanded to include all segments of the industry – manufacturing, sales, distribution and retail. But its goal remains the same. Now and in the future the association pledges to California’s food consumers the same high quality dairy products they enjoyed in the past.

Scholarship Fund

The California Cheese & Butter Association maintains a Scholarship Fund established in 1980, the income from which supports two student scholarships. Annual awards go to students engaged in dairy-related studies at the University of California at Davis and at California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo. In 1996 the Fund was named the W. Douglas Johnstone- California Cheese & Butter Association Scholarship in honor of the longtime Chairman.

Website

The California Cheese & Butter Association maintains a website as a service to members, consumers and the trade. The site contains contact information for our member’s products, news of the Association and web page links to other industry organizations that provide further information on cheese and butter products. The Association receives email inquiries from all over the world.
